Christmas Pawty Beach Day!

Christmas Pawty 2014

Sunday, December 14

11am-3pm

Iroquois Beach

Pack your lunch, beverage cooler, chair, swimsuit, and shiba and join us for a “fun and frolic” or a “cruise and chillaxin” day at the beach! Iroquois Point Beach (aka Pu’uloa Beach at Ewa Beach) has a large stretch of beach that is a dog-friendly. Lots of amenities make it human-friendly, too: parking, bathrooms, bbq grills, large grassy areas just a few steps from the sand and sea, and did we mention it’s dog-friendly? Details are unfolding regarding directions, process to go through Military Gate, activities, and our “Shibas Give” project (shelter donation of new/gently used pet items). Be sure to save the date and let us know you’re coming.

Ask a Firefox: Baby Pigeons

Katsumi Firefox here, Mistress of all Evil Shiba World Domination Plans.  I see you have come to find out the answer to a BURNING question, which is what we Firefoxes are here to do.  Not because we want to be HELPFUL or anything, but because we understand that as future leaders of the world sometimes questions come up.  If we don’t answer these questions then humans will spend all their time trying to ANSWER questions and not spend enough time doing PRODUCTIVE stuff like FEEDING THE SHIBA and FEEDING THE SHIBA.

That is why we created “Ask A Firefox” Friday.

Ask a Firefox!

From the desk of Katsumi Firefox:

A few months ago, we posted on our Facebook page asking for BURNING QUESTIONS that you’ve always wanted answered.  Who better to answer these questions than the Evil Firefox Girls??  We are after all, Evil, and being Evil requires a certain amount of Intelligence, and we are Shibas so that Intelligence gets multiplied by 100,000,000,000,000,000%.

After taking over 3 months to respond (we ARE Evil), I’ve picked the submission we’d like to start with:

Dog friendly Hawaii: Fun Pix in McCully Shopping Center!

Looking for something fun and unique to do with your Shiba in…the next 5 days??  We have something super fun and exciting for you to do with your Shiba: Purikura!!!!

Ok what is this “Purikura” madness?  It’s Photo stickers!  Specifically, Photo stickers taken in a photobooth in a style that started in the mid 1990’s in Japan.  You snap your photos in a super lit, high energy super FAST booth, then come on over to the editing side to add all kinds of decorations.

Left side - plain picture. Right side - picture with decorations that we added ourselves!

Here in Hawaii, we have a really cute shop in McCully Shopping Center that is filled with nothing but these photobooths.  The shop is located on the 2nd floor and is called Fun Pix.  And yes…they welcome dogs!!!

Here’s some tips from Shiba Inu Hawaii:

-Stick to booths 2, 3 and 6.  After you’re done with your photos, you have the option of sending them to your cell phone.  You get one free picture and for only $0.99 you can download all of them.

- Practice your poses before you go in because it goes SUPER FAST!

The bad news?  They are closing up shop on July 25th.   :-(  So make sure to get down to Fun Pix in the next few days, and bring your Shiba!  Don’t forget to show us your pictures, ’cause we wanna see them!!!

UPDATE – She has a home! – 12 Year Old Female Shiba – Looking for a Home

“Whitey” is a 12 year old cream Shiba Inu looking for a home!

We picked her up from the Hawaiian Humane Society today and spent a little time getting to know her.  She is very friendly and loves to walk on a leash!  She may have some trouble with her eyes; she can see in the light, but when it’s a little dark, she has trouble navigating and bumps into things. She is a bit cautious around other dogs, but didn’t bark or growl at anyone.

She’s spayed and we suspect she is the same Shiba that was brought to our attention here: http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/pet/3666146878.html.

If you are interested in giving her a forever home, please contact chris@shibainuhawaii.com.

Aiko – A Blind Shiba Inu Finds A New Home

Meet Aiko, the sweetest Shiba Inu you’ll ever know!

Originally a rescue from the Waimanalo Puppy Mill, she was recently found at the top of the mountain in Kapa’a Quarry. This 6-year-old blind Shiba Inu was found by a very caring person named Lisa and taken to the Hawaiian Humane Society so she could get adopted out to the right family. Unfortunately her time was almost up there, so Chris and Niki decided to adopt her and continue the search for a new home. That search didn’t take too long, less than a day in fact, and she will now become part of Mikie’s family!

Aiko is very affectionate and keeps walking toward any human so she will be pet, and she’ll take as much as you can give!

View on YouTube

She is blind in both eyes, with possibly a bit of vision, though she does tend to walk into things around the house.  But she always listens for footsteps and follows very closely.  She walks around a bit aloof like a baby bear, but she is energetic and full of life!  The goal is to have Aiko join the Pet Visitation Program with her “cousin,” Mikie, who is already a Joy Ambassador. Take care Aiko, and we’ll see you at our Playdates!

Puppy Social 9-30-12 Photos!
