We did it!!

Shiba Inu Hawaii’s 1st Anniversary Celebration was held on Saturday, April 23 at Lanakila Elementary…and it was SO MUCH FUN!  In attendance were over 70 Humans and over 40 Shibas and doggie friends!!  An awesome turn out, we are so happy to have so many supporters and Shiba Ohana to celebrate with!

A big congratulations to everyone who participated in the Shiba Games, despite the heat!  You are ALL winners, but some special winners were:

Musical Sits Champion:  Mayu
Tallest Shiba Champion:  Kuma
Smallest Shiba Champion: Sammie
Oldest Shiba Champion:  Hachi
Youngest Shiba Champion:  Emi
Best Trick Champion:  Tazzie (the singing Shiba!)
Shave Ice Eating Champion:  Mayu
Fastest Recall Champion:  Kitsune
Shiba Relay Champions:  Mayu, Emi, Renji

In addition to our regular club shirts, we also had special 1st Anniversary Celebration tshirts designed just for us by Emi’s Dad.  We also had limited edition “Obey Shiba” shirts available, which were a huge hit!  We will have more one day…but you’ll just have to stay tuned for when you can add them to your collection!

Thanks to our vendors and sponsors, the raffle giveaway was a great hit!!  The best prize, of course was the Shiba Inu Hawaii book…hehe, just kidding!  But we are so thankful for all the donations, both from the vendors who attended and those who couldn’t make it (55 Pawsh Place, King Street Pet Hospital and Hawaii Doggie Bakery).

Much thanks to our vendors who came out and had booths…

Waikiki Pet Supply had a great display of treats, poop bags, portable water carriers and more!  They even had some treats that both humans AND dogs could eat!  We personally tried to pumpkin flavor…it was shaped like a bear…we were a little scared at first…but it turned out pretty good!  Like a teddy graham!  We bought a package of honey flavored snacks.  I wonder who will eat it more, the dogs or the humans!  If you’re interested in purchasing some human/dog snacks of your own, click here.  We’re looking forward to seeing Waikiki Pet Supply at the Pet Expo next Saturday and Sunday!

Kiba Cafe was on hand selling AMAZING Japanese-themed plate lunches.  We got to try to Misoyaki Chicken ourselves…mmmHhhhmmmmm….we are huge fans for life!  Kiba the Shiba also made an appearance midday, and made the rounds.  Looking good, Kiba!  To check out Kiba Cafe, don’t forget to go to the Maikiki Farmers Market every Thursday from 4:30pm – 7:30pm.

We were so proud to have PuppyMoo with us, for the debut of their tough toys business!  Puppy Moo had so many different chew toys for your dog–we bought an antler for the girls, and they can’t stop chewing it!  Also with purchase, we got an adorable little lab puppy…no not a real one!  It was a cute stuffed animal to add to our family.  PuppyMoo was also selling banana bread which tasted so amazing!  They’re so multi-talented.

Inu Inu Hawaii had their wonderful display of cute kimonos, and of course their mascot Mia was in attendance as well!  We saw many Shiba Ohana walking around proudly with their kimonos looking so stylish and cute!    We heard a rumor that there are new designs in their future…we can’t wait to add to our collection!  Inu Inu Hawaii will also be at the Pet Expo on May 7 & 8.

We were so excited to have our Pet Psychic, Corrine Largo in attendance to add an insightful journey into our Shibas minds! We got a chance to sit down with Katsumi for a reading, and it was so interesting!  We’re happy to report that Katsumi loves us!!!  (You know with Shibas, you never really know!)  And apparently she loves to cuddle!  Excellent, we’re going to cuddle with you MORE then, Katsumi Firefox!!

We also can’t forget to thank Parrish, from Alpha K-9 Hawaii Obedience Training Club who did a demo of his very talented Shiba Inu’s who are in his class, and some special guests from other schools.  A BIG thank you also to Lanakila Elementary for hosting us on our special day.  Thank you THANK YOU to all our volunteers who helped us — everything from set up, breakdown, running booths…our volunteers are awesome!  Last but not least, our Planning Committee:  Taiko & Meeko’s parents: Shannon & Craig, and Zumi & Mika’s parents: Tiare & Randy.

The proceeds collected from the raffles, tshirts, shave ice & drinks all went towards funding this fun-filled day.  Thank you to everyone who supported us!  And now the moment you’ve all been waiting for…pictures!
