About Shiba Inu Hawaii…
Shiba Inu Hawaii was dreamed up by Chris long before he even had a Shiba Inu of his own. A few years ago, after hearing about the breed on the internet, Chris did a little research and found a Shiba Inu Group. He found out they were having a Meet Up near his house at the Mililani Dog Park, so he hurried on down to crash the party and stare longingly at the Shiba Inu. It was from attending this group meet up that Chris solidified his love for the breed. Years later, Chris was ready for a Shiba Inu of his own, and to his surprise, the Shiba Inu Meet Up Group was not to be found anywhere! So combining his love for the internet and his passion for Shiba Inus, he created www.shibainuhawaii.com. It was only a few days later that he became the owner of his very first Shiba Inu, a black and tan, Katsumi Firefox.
Besides Shibas, the things Chris loves most in life are photography, playing music, Apple Computers, Call of Duty, oh and Niki. Of course not necessarily in that order.
Chris is in charge of all photography seen on this site, as well as being the webmaster and “Head of Brainy Things.” He is also unofficially in charge of keeping the peace at playdates, which has led him to Kuma Carlos Chan giving him the nickname “The Rulemaker.”
At first it would seem that Niki was “roped into” this Shiba Inu madness. She has grown up around dogs all her life, but had no love in particular for Shiba Inu (in fact, she had never really heard of them). Once Chris’s mad passion for Shiba Inu became apparent, and once they were ready to become dog owners, Niki happily agreed to add a dog to their “family.” It didn’t take long for Niki to fall in love with Katsumi Firefox, and when Chris asked her to write some articles for the website she became totally hooked on all things Shiba Inu!
Niki coordinates all the Shiba Inu Hawaii Events you see on this website, as well as maintaining the Shiba Inu Hawaii Social Media accounts. She also occasionally has moments of brilliance such as creating the Shiba Inu Hawaii shirts, 2012 Calendar and Photobook.
Niki is also a proud regular on a local OC16 TV show called The Pet Hui, where she represents Shiba Inu Hawaii and teaches local pet owners to “Get Akamai About Your Pet!” New Pet Hui episodes show every other Sunday at 8:30pm.
