Shiba Puppy Pictures!!!

Shiba Puppy Pictures!!!

Joan from the Big Island sent us some pictures from her latest litter of Shiba Inu puppies.  They are soooo adorable!!! Check them out below, and if you want to see their father, Kuma in person, he’s competing and just added Champion to his name in this weekend’s Dog Show! From Joan right after they were born… Beni had her puppies on July 22.  She started labor at 11:30 am and was done by 1:00pm.  Very considerate of her.  It was a breeze for her and I both. Two little girls.  The little black came out first.  She continues to grow and is doing very well along with the cream.  She just stays about 5oz smaller.  I don’t know if that means the black is going to be small or the cream is just a hunk. Today they are 9 days old.  I will send more when they look like puppies.  They should look pretty much the same for at least 5 more day now. August 11th update… Wednesday we moved the pups out to the Patio/Dog House.  They still haven’t made it out of their birth box.  Bear & Hoku were out the morning of the 19th day.  I guess they are comfortable with the box space for now.  I expect them to be out any time now.  The double fence is to give some extra space between the babies and the boys (Kuma & Bear) as they walk by going in & out.  Mostly the boys are in the boys yard and kennels during the day.  Beni isn’t haveing too hard a time with their being in the house near the...

Puppy Farm Investigation Update: no puppy breeders with permits in Hawaii!?

We’re a few days behind in updating the site with the latest in the Puppy Farm Investigation story, so hopefully you’ve been following it on Hawaii News Now.  The news of the undercover puppy farm video featuring abused, mistreated and some deceased animals has lit a fire under pet lovers all around the island.  According to this news story which came out on August 19th, a local pet store has, for the first time agreed to hand over the names of all the breeders that they used.  The number is about 90 breeders, which is apparently a big shock to the Humane Society.  It’s a much bigger number than they expected. Why?  Because by law, all breeders who sell to Pet Stores must have a federal permit in order to do so–but right now, not a single breeder has this permit on the island. What???  How does this even happen??? State Senator Clayton Hee, (D) Kahuku, Laie, Kaneohe has taken a strong stance on this issue, and is making promises to propose new and better laws so that the Humane Society is able to take a stronger stance against regulating breeders.  Right now under the current laws, Humane Society Investigators cannot enter a breeders property without prior notice and approval from the breeder.  This gives breeders who are abusing animals the opportunity and the time to hide any thing that they might be cited for under the current laws. In the video below, Senator Hee talks about introducing several issues, including giving the Humane Society unannounced access to breeders’ facilities and requiring necessary veterinary care.  In this article, “capping...

Hawaii News Now’s “Puppy Farm Investigation” includes Shiba Inu Mother & Puppies

What terrible news today, “Puppy farm investigation sparks animal debate,” found on Hawaii News Now (click here if you haven’t heard about it yet).  Even worse, it seems that the very first clip they show is of a Shiba Inu mother and her puppies (see 0:13), in a tiny space presumably surrounded by her own feces. Hawaii News Now: Puppy Farm Investigation Please everyone, if you are thinking of purchasing a Shiba Inu puppy, make sure to check out the puppy’s credentials thoroughly.  Don’t be deceived by its cute face…all Shibas have cute faces! Also, this is why it is so important for us to support the Hawaiian Humane Society.  You may have never been to the Humane Society, or thought they touched your life, but this video clearly shows that they do.  They go out and do the dirty work that keeps all our Shiba Inu—present and...

Hi fellow shiba owners! I have a friend who would like to breed her female Shiba one last time. She is a beautiful b/tan with nice thick coat. She can pick up / drop off stud and will offer pick of the litter if the female conceives. Thanks everybody! Please contact Christiane Yazot via our Facebook page if this is of interest to...
