We are interested in meeting Ken. We rescued and rehabilitated our last dog which was an abused Shiba. We had him 13 years before he passed away from kidney problems. After a lot of love, patience, and training he actually calmed down enough to be a service dog...
It's been a year now, so we feel we are ready to adopt.
All of our dogs in the past have been rescues. They all lived out long lives with us.
We have a nice yard, but only let the dogs out when attended. If Ken is not the dog for us we would also consider fostering another pup... Thanks, Aloha
My phone is 808 293-1758 or my cell is 562 843-0841

Flipping the page from a serene, peaceful, calm NON-Shiba-like visage to an energetic, over-throttled, hyper-Shiba. Was that on purpose? hahaha.

Favorite moment was watching the other shiba's react to my jerk of a male. They kind of just walked around him like "what's your problem dude" and then walked away like "we didn't want to play with you anyways"! Pretty funny:)

Tropiclean pet shampoo products do not strip a pet's natural oils. They are not the same as soap-based shampoos that many people seem to use to their pet's detriment. The following excerpt is from their website:

"Our products are soap and detergent free. This means that any spot on flea and/or tick treatment will not be effected by our products. Most products are good for both dogs and cats."

Although they claim that topical flea and tick treatments are not effected, I personally do not shampoo my dog within 3-4 days of applying them. I use Tropiclean on my Shiba dog every time she goes under the house to dig craters; using Tropiclean does not cause here to start scratching.

Yes it is KuroKuma that is competing. Rally is a seperate venue. It is more along the lines of obedeince. Obedience, Rally & Agility are closely related. Comformation is another thing altogether and usually run by another Club from the other three.

My shiba had the same thing too, paw chewing/licking, red/brown scab spots around his body, always itching. It got so bad that he had patches of bald areas near the lower part of his body. It took 6-8 months for it to heal. Turns out he had horrible flea allergies and allergic to certain trees and grass. We took him to the vet and the vet sorta went through their checklist of treatments cause they didn't know what was wrong. So we did a food trial, skin tests, and allergy test. Throughout everything though he was on antibiotics and different kinds of medicated shampoo to treat his skin. Turns out the shampoo was a double edge sword. SHiba DON'T NEED to bathe but ONCE OR TWICE a year. They keep pretty clean and if you wash them they loose their nature skin protection and makes them more vulnerable to allergies. So after he got better he's on two kinds of flea med. Topical and ingestible alternating twice a month so every two weeks he gets dose even though each one is to be taken once a month. Mine is on a venison and potato diet too. But i don't think he has food allergies but he likes it. Hope this helps!

Oh and if you're wondering how I know about the skin barriar thing. It's because recently I gave him his first annual bath since getting better and he started to itch and scratch again and started to loose patches of hair again but i up the flea meds to once a week for a month just incase and used Dermal soothe anti-itch spray on the spots. It really helps and you can get it from your vet.

Just to clarify, it is Bear that is the Rally contestant. I won't do any obedience with Kuma or Beni until their "Show" careers are over. It's just too confusing for them. I find that Shiba can be trained as long as it is one thing at a time.
Please come to watch, everyone. You might want to give Rally a try yourself. Hope to see you there.
